TOURS

School — Since 1986, Milky Way Farm has been offering educational tours for private and public schools in the greater Philadelphia area. We provide age-appropriate tours for children - kindergarten years and older. Over 4,000 children experience our tour annually. Our tour program explores farm animals, agricultural products, farm life, plant-growing cycles, nutrition, and milking technology in close learning experiences. Fall tour children select a small pumpkin from the pumpkin patch to take home. Spring and summer tour children receive a "moolicious" vanilla ice cream cup to enjoy on the farm which is safe or allergy-free for tree nut, peanut, gluten, and egg allergies. The cost of the tour is $13.00 per child — no charge for teachers and a few chaperones (siblings are not allowed). The length of the tour is 1 1/2 hours, scheduled in the morning or occasionally afternoons. Lunch area provided upon request — must schedule in advance. Tour dates are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. We plan for a 1:25 ratio of farm guide to the student. Car and bus parking is available.

Family/Scout — Milky Way Farm offers private tours to groups and families of all ages. Our tours emphasize close interaction with our farm animals, farm crops, and machinery while promoting an understanding of farming as a way of life. Generally, these tours are conducted during evening feeding time when families can assist with cow and calf feeding, collecting of eggs, feeding of goats and sheep, and watching the cows being milked by our robot! In addition, we tailor tours for scouting groups working on scout badges. The tour enables the scouts to meet one of the requirements of the conservation, farm, animal, and ecology badges. Come and personally experience the uniqueness of dairy farming. The cost of the tour is $12.00 per person or a minimum of $60. The length of the tour is one hour. Private tours are available April-September, preferably on the weekends.
